Unleashing Why AC Within The Car Should'nt Be Switched On Just After You Sit In Your Car

Hello, Everyone!

As the soaring temperatures and scalding heat waves envelop the city, vehicle owners and users have donned to habitually switch on the AC as soon as they enter their cars. In search of respite from stifling heat car owners do not recognize the potential damage being done to their lungs.

In an interaction with a clinical expert in this blog post, we will understand why AC within the car shouldn't be switched on as soon as you get into the car and what are the safer do's.

According to an Internal Medicine Consultant working at Aster Whitefield Hospital located in Bengaluru Dr. Basavraj S Kumbhar, even if you feel a strong urge to turn your car AC on to comfort yourself from the suffocating heat when the car is parked under the Sun, it is better not to switch on the AC. He explained that because of the high temperature of the vehicle as compared to your lung and body temperature ; turning on the AC just as you get into your car can make your lungs dry.

So let us get started.

It is a wake-up call for those susceptible to allergies.

But what is the normal temperature of the lungs?

The body temperature is controlled by a particular section of the brain known as the Hypothalamus. It monitors the body temperature and analyzes if the body temperature is greater than or lesser than the regular temperature i.e. 37 degrees Celsius. If it is less than 37 degrees Celsius then the hypothalamus assures that the body generates as well as maintains enough heat so as to sustain normal 37 degrees Celsius. Human anatomy is amazing, it maintains the body temperature to be 37 degrees Celsius and the lungs are confined within the thoracic cavity. The regular lung temperature is around 36.1 degrees cecius to 37.2 degrees Celcius.

Dr. Basavraj suggested rolling down the car window panels at first and waiting for about 5 minutes for the temperature within the car to drop down to normal and then afterward it's okay to switch on the AC. He also said in regards to the dust entailed within the air of the car. He cautioned if the AC vents are not wiped daily then there is a possibility of dust particles to get piled up on the AC vents and window panes. So you might sense a foul odor when you get into your car.

But how can dusty air within our car harm us?

According to Dr. Kumbhar greater interaction with polluted air can trigger less severe to severe level health issues. He spoke about less severe level health issues such as sneezing, allergies as well as nose and throat dryness, and severe level illnesses such as asthma and bronchitis.

Dr . Kumbhar also outlined the relationship between air quality and the car's brand. According to him, cars with superior technology and safety features with exclusive materials and luxurious finishes have clear vents and anti-dust technology. But regular cars don't have dust-repelling technologies. So they must be wiped every day. He further said that it is essential to properly wipe the AC vents to ensure better air quality and lung health.

Conclusively, we can say that it is not okay to switch on your car's AC as soon as you get into your car and must first roll down the Car windows and wait for some minutes for the temperature within your car to drop down to normal temperature and then switch on the AC for keeping lung dryness at bay. Also, it's essential to clean the AC vents regularly to ensure better air quality and lung health.

Thank You.
