Yoga has been a timeless remedy to ward off many diseases. Yoga is a timeless practice that brings mind and body for a perfect synergy and integrates our mind, body, and soul and the world is in awe after being well acquainted with its transformative power.
Today (21st June 2024) is International Yoga Day and 2024 marks the 10th year of International Day of Yoga. This year the theme is"Yoga For Self And Society".
The event was held at the North lawn of the United Nations headquarters based in New York and was hosted by the Permanent Mission Of India in association with the United Nations Secretariat.

Understanding Yoga -What is yoga?
Yoga is an ancient activity that incorporates asanas and pranayama as well as meditation intended for the well-being of our mind, body, and soul and unifying them. As the name suggests "Yoga "-in Hindi it refers to integration. It refers to integrating physical exercises, control of breath, and meditation to finally unite with our inner self.
In this era of fast-paced, yoga is practiced globally in diverse forms and the world is awe-inspired by its transformative powers.
History :
To mark its global fascination for yoga, the United Nations proclaimed 21st June of every year as the International Day of Yoga. This day is celebrated to heighten awareness globally about the plethora of benefits of doing yoga daily.
Bharat proposed the draft resolution for the International Day of Yoga and featured 175 member states under the 69/131 resolution. Bharatiya PM Narendra Modi in his 69th session of General Assembly introduced the proposal.
International Yoga Day Celebrations:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading the celebrations in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.
